2020 has been quite the year, but in the world of gaming, apart from some delays, it really just moved along like normal. Well, as normal as it can be in the midst of a global pandemic, with that said, there were countless amazing games across the various platforms and even some good movies to enjoy.

This time we are taking a break from the gaming and enjoy some movies, of course this year proved that movies can still be released, they all seemed to go straight to TV, rather than the big screen. Still there were a lot of movies released this year and these were the three that we loved the most.

When you take a real life event, like the 1969 trial of seven people, add in writing by one of the most talented folks around and then compile a cast that is diverse, you could end up with a hodgepodge, or you strike the perfect balance and get The Trial of the Chicago 7.

Aaron Sorkin, known for The West Wing and The Newsroom both writes and directs this real life story, where seven men were put on trial by the United States government and while the story takes a few creative liberties, it is a fairly accurate adaptation of the events that took place.

True-life movies can be hard to watch, given they usually focus on bad stories, but there is enough balance here, to make it watchable and enjoyable.

Christmas movies are a dime for two dozen these days, streaming services love to make them, but they are almost the same template, Happiest Season bucks that trend entirely, and even manages to ditch a male lead.

Abby just wants to propose to her girlfriend, a simple enough wish, except that Harper hasn’t informed her parents that she is gay and when Abby meets the parents, they don’t know they are meeting their daughters girlfriend. The movie can be a little confusing with who knows what and the ever changing story for Abby, but it manages to overcome that and provide a heart fill tale of love and being true to yourself.

No matter what traditional movies you watch each holiday season, Happiest Season offers a modern take on love and owning who you really are.

Ah Groundhog Day, a timeless movie that many others have attempted to recreate and failed, but where others have missed out on something, Palm Springs manages to capture that special sauce and a little extra.

Adding in elements of a romantic comedy to a time travel story, could have been to much for it, but the leads of Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti, manage to hold both parts up equally. The overall tale is one that asks, if you had the chance to live out a perfect day, would you do it alone, or give it up for the one you love. It offers up a light-hearted tale, but if you let it, can leave you feeling like you were hit with so many emotional bricks.

Time travel movies can usually be predictable and while Palm Springs falls into that group as well, the comedy and romantic aspects, help it climb out and become something greater than its inspiration.

There we go, in a year when movies were very hard to see, we still managed to get some amazing ones and even some movies that still landed at the cinema. What movies did you see, that you enjoyed?
