Judas reveals new details, finally breaking its years long silence

In what is seemingly a continuing trend of proving me wrong, after more than 2.5 years of silence, Judas has finally been given a new update and it is a big one. Before we proceed though just know is is till without a release date.

Ok, so the news for the game is threefold, first up is that there is no date, the second piece of news is the new key art, which you can enjoy above, or download a 6K version of here. The new art is inspired by Drew Struzan and their work on classic Hollywood movie posters like for Star Wars. In the reveal about it on the PlayStation Blog, Ken Levine said:

We’re really happy to finally show this off. I have always personally been a huge fan of Drew Struzan’s work and that era of movie posters. The style is great at presenting films that have a big cast, like Star Wars. And Judas has a big cast. Outside of the lead roles, there’s likely going to be more than one hundred speaking parts… If you look closely, there’s probably some details you might be curious about. Let’s just say there’s some stuff in this game that we’re not going to talk about right now, but everything here is relevant.

So what is the final aspect of news that we got today? That is based around the gameplay and their new Villainy system. Past games from Levine have had one main central villain, the foe that drives you forward, but in Judas there is no one big bad, instead your actions will create them. As Levine said:

In Judas, your actions will attract members of the Big 3 to you as friends. But ignore one of them enough, and they become the villain. From there, they will get access to a new suite of powers to subvert your actions and goals.

There is a lot more detail about this system, which if you had not guessed is inspired by the Nemesis system form the middle-earth: Shadow of series. For all the details, including some small gameplay clips, head over to the PlayStation Blog.

The game is coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at some point.
