What are Capcom working on... A look at their studios

Capcom are one of the few publishers who have not closed studios, bought studios or otherwise modified their business in large ways over the past few years, they make good games and really, nothing more.
That is not to say that they don’t have issues, Monster Hunter Wilds has been full of problems, but they are addressing those with each update. As you can see via the list below, they also released a lot more ports and collections last year than original games. Now that is not an issue directly, but they did the same thing the year before and the year before. There are some folks who are not enjoying the constant stream of older games, and I can understand why, but at least Capcom has the balance down for it.
These are the games that were published in 2025, with those titles that are bolded being original releases:
Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics - Xbox One
Monster Hunter Wilds - PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
Capcom Fighting Collection 2 - Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny - Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess - Nintendo Switch 2
Street Fighter 6 - Nintendo Switch 2
Monster Hunter Stories - Xbox One
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin - Xbox One
If you are curious to see how we did in years past, you can find our 2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022 Previews here.
Division 1
Known for: Resident Evil, Mega Man, Dragon’s Dogma | Last game released: Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess
This group had a fairly quiet 2025, if only because they were hard at work on the next entry in the Resident Evil series. Of course, before that game comes out next month, they did bring Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess to Nintendo Switch 2 at launch and were one of the few games to offer mouse-con support with it.
As for this year, it will be all Resident Evil Requiem for the first few months, and then a break for a while, before that Grace amiibo is released sometime this Winter. What is unknown is what DLC might come for the game, as the previous few titles have had some meaty expansions for players to enjoy. Also, as this group are the ones that oversee Mega Man, there is a good chance they are working on that new game, which was just announced, though with a 2027 release date, I don’t think we will see much on it until later in the year, outside of a trailer in June. The other game that Capcom have coming from this group is Pragmata, which is launching in April, with a demo coming to consoles soon. Given the extraordinarily long development time on this one, especially for a Capcom game, expect there to be a big push on it, more so once Resident Evil Requiem is out the door.
Division 2
Known for: Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Ace Attorney | Last game released: Monster Hunter Wilds
2025 kicked off strong for this group, as Monster Hunter Wilds was set to launch just weeks later, but when it did, players were not happy. Visual issues, poor performance and just a general vibe of bad across the platforms it released on, did not make players happy. Capcom quickly pivoted and got some patches out, but they didn’t just stop there, as with each new update, more tweaks were made. Even the most recent update, which launched just last month, promised even more fixes for performance and presentation. 2025 also saw the return of Onimusha, or at least the remaster of the second game in the series and players seemed to respond.
Which is why 2026 will see a big focus on Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which is expected to release this year. The game was revealed a while ago and we have seen a number of trailers for it since then, including some gameplay and character focused ones, but there are still a lot of unknowns about what is to come. This is the group that also works on Street Fighter 6 and there is still the release of Alex and Ingrid to come across the first half of this year. With character 3 from the first and second character passes launching in February, I would expect Alex to launch around then, with Ingrid to follow in May or June. Of course, that is not going to be the end as there is also another crossover coming, though after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Baki and Spy X Family, who knows what is next.
CAPCOM MOBILE
Known for: Various | Last game released: MEGA MAN X DiVE Offline
Apart form porting select Resident Evil titles to iOS, the mobile group have been fairly quiet for a while now and while I could usually write that off as a by product of being mobile focused, but honestly, I don’t know. I have not been able to find any details about what this team have been up to. Now Monster Hunter Puzzles: Felyne Isles keeps getting new content, but beyond that the only other game they had themselves was Mega Man X DiVE Offline, which has been out for a while.
The studio are working alongside Timi on Monster Hunter Outlanders, which is their brand new Monster Hunter game for mobile devices. Unlike Monster Hunter Now, which is a Pokémon Go clone, this is a normal Monster Hunter game, just on phones. The game had a closed beta late last year and that is a good sign, but there is no telling if they will have any more or when the full release might be. Again though, Timi is doing the development work on this, with Capcom just providing guidance, which leaves the Mobile team without anything new to talk about. Will that change this year, I think it will, the bigger question is what classic Capcom IP will get some love, because there are a lot to choose from.
K2 CO., LTD.
Known for: Prisoner of Palma | Last game released: Resident Evil 4 - Separate Ways
Known to support the Division 1 group with Resident Evil, there is little chance this group is not working on Resident Evil Requiem. The companies website is no longer online, which leads me to believe they are going to be completely absorbed soon, rather than being their own self on the side, but who knows if that will happen. In any event, we will get confirmation on their Requiem involvement in a few weeks. The only catch will be, if their name does not appear in the credits, what else could they be working on?
Swordcanes Studio Co., Ltd.
Known for: None | Last game released: None
While the studio above is allowed to make things on their own from time to time, Swordcanes Studio is just support. They were snapped up by Capcom in 2024, bringing them onboard as a support studio, but much like Shiver Entertainment, they do occasional work for others. While they support Capcom, they are mostly used for 3CG video production, so cutscenes and such, which is why they also work on games like Final Fantasy XVI and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, to name a few.
Given their supportive and collaborative nature, I expect their name to show up in a few games this year, just no telling how many will be Capcom and how many will be from other studios.
Partnerships
Clovers
Known for: None | Last game released: None
We included this last year but said that nothing major would happen in 2025, given that the game had just be announced. Now from a game information release, that is totally accurate, there were no new clips or such released, but from a studio point of view, a lot happened. Clovers got its new offices in both Tokyo and Osaka, which meant development could start in full and the studio launched a YouTube channel, no seriously they called that out as news.
The studio has only a general application for open roles going right now, which usually means they are staffed up. As for the as of today untitled Okami sequel, what can we expect this year? I would think a new trailer that reveals the full name would happen at some point, Tokyo Game Show is my likely guess, but beyond that, I don’t think we will see much in 2026 from the white wolf.
There we go, another one in the books. What did you think of Capcom’s efforts in 2025 and are you hopeful on their 2026 projects? They do have a unique mix of reoccurring series, new ip and refreshed ip, which is nice to see. But what do you want to see from them?
