Starsand Island adds Switch 2 to its release line up

Developer Seed Lab have announced that when Starsand Island arrives in 2026, it will now do so on Nintendo Switch 2, in addition to the previously announced platforms. As part of the news, a new trailer for the game has been released, check it out.

Starsand Island sees the player’s character escape the hustle and bustle of city life and return to the island home of their youth on a journey of personal healing. As they settle into the calming, pastoral idyll, players will farm, fish, raise animals, explore the island’s mysterious and ancient ruins, and build connections with quirky local characters.

Bringing Starsand Island to Nintendo Switch 2 has been a longstanding goal for us; the life-sim genre has a natural home on Nintendo consoles. Even before it was announced nearly a year ago, we knew - and wanted - our game to be on Nintendo’s next-generation platform. Starsand Island transports players to a simple, pastoral life, and we think that should be available whether they’re at home, commuting to and from work, or taking a break.

Scheduled to arrive in early 2026, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Starsand Island will take full advantage of the console’s hardware, with Quality Mode targeting 45FPS in 1080p resolution, and 60FPS in 1080p resolution in Performance Mode (both docked and handheld), together with Game Chat during online multiplayer, and mouse control functionality.

The game itself will release sometime in early 2026 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
