Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition gets a Switch 2 Edition today

Nintendo have announced that Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is even more definitive as the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition has released digitally today and will come in a physical form on April 16. Check out the new trailer for the updated game below.

As part of our 2026 Previews, we did say that the series would likely get Switch 2 Editions, but to be fair it was low hanging fruit.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game adds up to 4K resolution at a smooth frame rate of up to 60fps when playing in TV mode and up to 1080p and up to 60fps in handheld mode.

Beyond the updated resolution and 60fps modes, there is nothing new about this, there is no new content in the game, just now supported on the newer console.

We did review the game last year when it released on Nintendo Switch, having broken out from the Wii U prison and we enjoyed it, though we had some concerns over some of the speed of things.

If you own the existing game, you can buy the upgrade pack here, if you don’t and want everything at once you can buy the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game here and finally, if you want to get the physical edition you can order it from the My Nintendo Store. It will also release at selected retailers as well.
