Star Wars: The games in development

In last years list of Star Wars games in development, things were looking up. Star Wars Outlaws was on its way, Star Wars Hunters had just been given its 1.0 release date and even Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was coming to older consoles, this year though, things are not looking so bright.
Much like our Star Wars movies in development list, we are breaking this down into Confirmed with title, Confirmed but no detail and rumoured. Let us begin with the first group.
Confirmed with title
Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune
Release Date: May 15, 2025 | Platform: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5
A small update for this one, mostly because it is the only release in the list that is new and has a date. A Pirate’s Fortune is the second expansion for Star Wars Outlaws, following Wild Card that released in late 2024. The new story will see Kay, Nix and ND-5 team up with Hondo Ohnaka, who may or may not be trustworthy, depending on the day of the week.
Star Wars Zero Company
Release Date: 2026 | Platform: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5
Officially revealed at Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, we have known this game was coming for a number of years, in last year’s list we had it down as Untitled Strategy Game. Now we have the name, Zero Company and some details, namely that you are Hawk, a former Republic soldier who started up a mercenary team and has taken on a mission to stop something bad. The catch, Hawk can be whomever you want them to be, the default look is in the middle of the thumbnail below, but you be a Twilek, Zabrak or even a droid.
You can learn more about the game here, but it won’t be out until 2026.
Star Wars Beyond Victory - A Mixed Reality Playset
Release Date: TBA | Platform: Meta Quest 3/3s
Much like Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, Star Wars: Beyond Victory - A Mixed Reality Playset will let players become someone in the Star Wars galaxy, the big difference its all about pod racing. In Beyond Victory, you are Volo and are in control of a podracer as it zips through canyons and races past (and occasionally into) obstacles on the podrace track. With Luuda and Sebulba in your ear offering tips, suggestions, and occasional insults, you’ll get a crash course in podracing unlike any other.
Star Wars Outlaws
Release Date: September 4, 2025 | Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
It is Star Wars Outlaws and its coming to Nintendo Switch 2, there really isn’t much we can say beyond that, because apart from the weird trailer below, Ubisoft have not said anything else about this release. There is no word on if it is only the game or comes with the DLC, there is no word on any functions that take advantage of the new console or even if its going to release on an actual card - it won’t, but the point is we know nothing.
Confirmed without detail
Star Wars: Eclipse
Release Date: TBA | Platform: TBA
Another year with this game in the list and honestly nothing has officially changed. There was a brief snippet of something from the game shared last year in a Quantic Dream behind the scenes video, like half a seconds worth, but that is it. Since the game was revealed in December 2021, we have not seen anything about the game, until recently that is.
An artist who worked on the game, recently shared a heap of concept art for the game to their online portfolio, as they do. The catch was that they were not meant to do that and of course they took it down soon after, but it is the internet and if there is ever anything shared online, someone has saved a copy of it. You can enjoy the art below, but it won’t clue you in of the first full game set within The High Republic.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic — Remake
Release Date: TBA | Platform: PlayStation 5, PC
The game was announced in September 2021 and then went radio silent, then the developer was removed, and a new one was assigned to work on it. Then that developer was sold from the parent company, and no one had any idea what was going on with it, until September 2024.
Saber Interactive CCO Tim Willits revealed last year that the game is still in development, but they won’t share anything further until the time is right. On the upside, he also stated that more investment was made into the project, which is usually a good sign of things to come. For now, we might just need to wait and see on this one, because if it’s still in active development, I don’t think we are going to see it for at least another 2 years.
Star Wars Jedi 3
Release Date: TBA | Platform: TBA
This is the first of two games in this list where we know it is happening and that is about it. Electronic Arts and developer Respawn Entertainment have confirmed a third entry is happening, with actor Cameron Monaghan set to return as Cal Kestis.
That is all we know, well we do know that the director of the first two games, Stig Asmussen left Respawn Entertainment to start a new company, so this game will have a new director, but that is really it. There is no timeline for release, but given how rough the second game was received by players, I can’t imagine they are going to rush this one.
Amy Hennig's Star Wars game
Release Date: TBA | Platform: TBA
This is the second of the confirmed games without details that we know very little about, in fact we know even less about this one than we do for Star Wars Jedi 3. All that has been said about this game is it’s a narrative-driven action-adventure, which is about as generic as you can get.
Hennig’s credits do include creating the Uncharted series and writing/directing Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2 and Legacy of Kain: Defiance. She and her team are currently working on Marvel 1943 Rise of Hydra, which is aiming for a 2025 release, but that is it. Once that game is done, she will likely turn to this game, who knows maybe this will get Hennig the chance to make a proper version of Project Ragtag.
Rumoured
Work from Aspyr
Now let me start off by saying that there are currently no games announced by the team as coming, but that was the case last year and we got Star Wars: Bounty Hunter and Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles, both of which followed on from Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection. In fact, the studio in the past few years have ported/remastered a number of games onto modern platforms. In release order they are:
Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast
Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy
Star Wars: Episode I - Racer
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles
Even if you are going to just focus on games made on Nintendo 64 & PlayStation and later, that still offers up a large number of games, these are the ones I could see getting some love from the studio, in order from most likely to least:
Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
Star Wars: Obi-Wan
Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith
Star Wars: Starfighter
Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Republic Heroes
Star Wars Racer Revenge
Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing
Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron
Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron
Star Wars: Masters of Teräs Käsi
Now that list is mostly the 3D games, there are a heap of Game Boy, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS games that could get some attention, but for those a bundle would seem likely. Again, there is nothing revealed by the developer, but I would not be surprised if something is not released this year.
Work from Nightdive Studios
As above, there has been no word from the studio on them bringing anything new out from Star Wars, but the same was true this time last year and then they went and released Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster.
Unlike Aspyr who have worked across a number of platforms, a lot of the work done by Nightdive Studios of late has been based on games from PC or Nintendo 64. If and it is a big if, they were to keep that trend going, I would love to see these Star Wars games get some love:
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Star Wars Episode I: Battle for Naboo
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike
Will they have anything Star Wars for 2025? Only time will tell, but Dash Rendar is getting a new action figure from Hasbro, so maybe it is time for Shadows of the Empire to return.
So, there we go, all the games we could find as coming and the status of them, plus a few dreams to boot. Are there any games in the list that you are excited for?
