Borderlands 4 reveals the first DLC via its first ever PAX Australia panel

Gearbox have made their Australian debut for PAX Australia, and they did so with a giant Moxxi themed pub, but also a Borderlands 4 panel, which revealed a lot of details about the games upcoming content.

There were three big reveals, each offering new ways for players to experience the game, some of the content is free and some requires a buy-in, though owners of select editions of Borderlands 4 are already set. So what was revealed? A lot.

Horrors of Kairos - Free

The Borderlands games have been enjoying seasonal content for a while now that continues this year when the Horrors of Kairos event kicks off. This will happen on October 23rd and run until November 6. During that time players will get experience blood rain, no literally, as world bosses will now trigger the horror-inducing weather.

But all is not lost, as new legendary loot is being put up for grabs for players.

• "Murmur" Legendary Tediore Assault Rifle: Executes weakened enemies with

  guaranteed crits on targets under 35% health

• "Skully" Legendary Order Grenade: This death-dealing grenade fires out projectiles as

  it seeks out the nearest target

The event will also see SHiFT codes shared to the games various social channels, which will provide pumpkin themed headwear for the games original vault hunters, as well as a weapon skin called Hex Appeal, which can be applied to any gun.

Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day - Paid

For those who have the Deluxe Edition or Super Deluxe Edition, this DLC is included within that. Anyone who has bought the Bounty Pack Bundle, or chooses to buy it, will also gain access to this DLC. If you are someone who wants to buy it one DLC at a time, you can also do that when the pack is released.

This first DLC pack for Borderlands 4 will arrive on November 20 and offer up a new way to celebrate the holiday season with Rush, the leader of the Outbounders. In order to break the blues that has gripped him, he opts to celebrate Mercenary Day on Kairos, which goes against the requirement that all celebrations be bland. Players will undertake main missions, fight back against Screw, the Minister of Culture and his bland ways, in order to celebrate the day by any means necessary. If you need a reason as to why, new legendary loot awaits you at the end.

But new loot is not the only thing coming with this expansion, players will also get a new Vault Card. Once the Vault Card is active, players will earn new rewards by just playing the game, with 24 cosmetic items and 4 rerollable gear on offer. The last one is important as you can reroll the gear as many times as you like, until you land on their perfect pistol or other weapon.

In this new pack, players will get all this:

• 4 rerollable weapons

• 4 Vault Hunter Heads usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe

• 4 Vault Hunter Skins usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe

• 5 Weapon Skins

• 5 Vehicle Skins

• 4 ECHO-4 Drone Skins

• 2 ECHO-4 Attachments

The best part, there is no time restriction on this, you can activate it and just take your time. While you will earn XP from having it active, you will also still earn your normal XP, so there really is no downside. There are even more items to discover from the pack, so playing will truly be a rewarding experience.

Endgame Updates - Free

For those who are seeking a real challenge, Bloomreaper the Invincible* will be arriving into the game this December and will be just the first of a host of invincible* bosses for players to fight.

*bosses are not actually invincible, they just have some seriously large health pools, mega attacks and modifiers that can really shorten your life.

As you might expect, taking down the Bloomreaper will reward you with some amazing legendary loot, but like a Danoz Direct infomercial, but wait, there’s more.

The update will also bring the Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode to the game, meaning that if players really want to get spanked over and over again, this is the mode for them. This was previously announced as part of the games endgame overview, but now we know when it’s coming.

There is more content coming in 2026 for the game, with C4SH being the first new vault hunter to join the fight.
