The Virtual Boy will return this February via Nintendo Classics

During the recent Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that the Virtual Boy, Nintendo’s VR headset from the 90s, will make a return on February 17th when the platform is added to Nintendo Classics on both Switch and Switch 2.

Unlike the other platforms added to the service, which you can enjoy without any additional hardware, in order to play the Virtual Boy line up, you must purchase one of the two headsets.

The first option is the replica of the original Virtual Boy, just without any cables or the controller. The price for this one is $139.95 and can be ordered here. Orders can only be placed by Nintendo Switch Online members.

The other option, which is the more affordable of the two, has a cardboard wrap for your Switch or Switch 2 console to sit in. This one looks slightly less comfortable to play with on a desk or table, but it is going to be lighter so you can game while holding your console to your face, if you wanted to. The RRP for this on is $29.95 and orders can be placed here. Orders can only be placed by Nintendo Switch Online members.

But what about games you can play on it? Well there are 22 games available for the device, but some of those were Japan only and right now Nintendo have said 14 games will be released overtime for the platform. The list so far is:

  • 3D Tetris

  • Galactic Pinball,

  • Golf

  • Insmouse No Yakata

  • Jack Bros.

  • Mario Clash

  • Mario's Tennis

  • Red Alarm

  • Space Invaders: Virtual Collection

  • Teleroboxer

  • V-Tetris

  • Vertical Force

  • Virtual Bowling

  • Wario Land

The screens below are for Mario’s Tennis, Galactic Pinball and Telerboxer

As with all NSO releases, we don’t know when the games below will come, so it is just a waiting game.
