The first details for NBA 2K26 have been revealed

While 2K did reveal the cover athlete for the standard edition already, they still had more details to share about NBA 2K26 and there are a lot of them, so let’s get right to it.
The first piece of news is for the Nintendo Switch 2 edition, that has been confirmed to be a Gen 9 version of the game, so content wise it will feature the same modes, gameplay and features that the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S get. 2K have confirmed to us that the game will be on a card, with all the local listings not showing any Game Key Card banners, so that hopefully means it is all there.
Next up is the release date, there are two this year the standard release date and those who opt to pay more to get the game earlier. These are the dates and the platforms with the early access
Standard release date - September 5 - Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S
Early access release date - August 30 - PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
For those who want to pick up the game on August 30, there are two editions available in Australia that make it possible, the Superstar Edition and the Leave No Doubt Edition.
Carmelo Anthony is the cover athlete for the Superstar Edition. They are a 2025 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Inductee, 10-time NBA All-Star, three-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
For the Leave No Doubt Edition, it will feature Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Carmelo Anthony and Angel Reese, who is on the cover of the America only WNBA Edition. She plays for the Chicago Sky Forward, along with being an AT&T WNBA All-Star, 2024 All-Rookie Team, and NCAA Champion.
Here are all three cover arts for the three editions coming to Australia.

As for gameplay details, they are somewhat slim right now, due to how the NBA 2K series reveals things, they generally launch a new one every week or so in the lead up to the games release. Right now, we have this blurb from 2K
