The battle rages on as Dawn of War IV has been revealed

At Gamescom Opening Night Live, Deep Silver were on hand to reveal that Dawn of War was back, but this was no remaster, but rather a brand new entry. Check out the reveal trailer for the game below.

There are not a lot of details for the game at this time, but we do know the following. It takes place around 200 years after the events of Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, which was the second expansion to the original game. The setting is that of Kronus, which fans of Warhammer should know very well.

The game will offer four playable factions:

  • Space Marines

  • Orks

  • Necrons

  • Adeptus Mechanicus

With each of the four having their own campaign, which will show their side of the battles, and when combined will give players a much broader sense of what is going on. The stories have been written by Black Library author John French, so you know it will be badass.

For those who prefer to battle it out against other players, there are more modes than just campaign.

  • Skirmish

  • Co-op

  • Competitive Multiplayer

That last one will also see the return of the fan favourite Last Stand mode.

The game is promising to be the biggest Dawn of War at launch with four factions, more than 10 playable commanders, well over 100 units and buildings and thanks to the in-game editor and painter, you can customise many of them yourself.

There is no date for the game beyond 2026, but I am sure that will come in time. Much like the other games in the series, the game is PC only at this time.
