Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic has been revealed

Star Wars always works best in trilogies, which is why the reveal of Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is such great news. Before you get to excited, this is not a direct sequel or a direct continuation of the existing games, but a new story being told within the final moments of The Old Republic. Check out the reveal trailer for it below.

The game is being created by the new studio Aracnaut Studios, which has a bit of a leg up on others as the studio was founded and is being led by Casey Hudson, who many will know as the creator and director of the first three Mass Effect games. But the most important part was that he was also the director on the original game.

Working on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was one of the defining experiences of my career. With Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, we’re telling a completely new and different story with everything we’ve learned since - crafting an adventure about choice, destiny, and the timeless struggle between light and dark. It’s a dream come true to once again collaborate with Lucasfilm Games.
— Casey Hudson, Game Director at Arcanaut Studios

There are not a lot of details for the game right now, as you might expect, but we have this basic synopsis.

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is a narrative-driven single-player action RPG where you step into the role of a Force user on a journey through a galaxy on the edge of rebirth.

So basically, it is just like the first two games.

The game is in development for PC and consoles, but like always, they have not said what consoles. There is also no release date for the game yet either. If you want to learn a little more, you can do so via the interview on StarWars.com
