Shatter the enemy in Kiln, a pottery based multiplayer game
Double Fine were the surprise addition to the Xbox Developer_Direct, with Kiln, a multiplayer game where you are a pot and when you are destroyed, need to create a new pot and then you can jump back into the fight.
At its core, Kiln is a game about creation and destruction, with the latter not being the end of things. Players will get to create their own pot, they can be big, or small and the idea is to work with your team mates to put out the fire on the opposing teams kiln.
As the battlefield becomes littered with the shattered fragments of friends and foes alike, sharp brawling skills and tight teamwork will be required to secure the win. The maps, of which only a few were shown off, can be altered by play and that can change how you can get around. There will be gaps in some walls that a small pout can get through and larger pots can push past some obstacles.
Reaching the enemy kiln intact is crucial as you need to use the water you carry to dose their flames. While a smaller pot might get you there safely, assuming you go unnoticed, you may not have the water on hand to do enough damage. The larger pots make for an easier target, but that also means you have a lot of water to dose the flame.
After the battle is won or lost, players will head to The Wedge, a place for everyone to practice their pottery prowess, decorate their latest pots in order to make them yours. Creation requires you to shape a pot, you don’t just get to pick from a preset, you are free to create the pot of your dreams or nightmares and that includes the colours and patterns you apply to it. Once your creation is glazed, you can then share your creations with others, showing off why yours is the best and then of course, take them back into battle once more to put your pot where your mouth is.
The game is coming out this Autumn, so only a few months from now and will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
