Gaming4Life is back, to help raise money to help those fighting cancer

Electronic Arts are partnering with the Sony Foundation Australia, to help raising money for the ‘You Can Stay’ Cancer accomodation program, by having folks play FIFA 21.

Starting on December 5 and running through until December 20 on Twitch, all funds raised through the Gaming4Life program will go towards covering the cost of accomodation for regional youth, who are suffering from cancer and have to head into major cities, in order to receive life-saving treatment.

The goal of the event is to raise $50,000, which should allow for 5,000 nights of accommodation, because every $100 raised during Gaming4Life will provide one night of emergency accommodation for a cancer patient aged 15 – 25 years old and their family.

The streamer who raises the most money will receive a PlayStation 5 pack, which comes with a console and accessories, but even if you can’t stream, donations can also get you into the draw to win prizes. For every $10 donated during a stream, the viewer gets a ticket to win a copy of FIFA 21, but for those that donate $50, they will go into the draw to win the same prize pack that the streamer gets. All in all, there is $27,000 worth of prizes to be won and all for a worthy cause.

“We are proud to be part of Gaming4Life and hope EA SPORTS FIFA 21 brings people together to watch and play with friends and family and in doing so, raise some much needed funds for young Aussies with cancer. EA SPORTS has been a longstanding supporter of Sony Foundation and we’re proud to support this great cause. Get behind your favourite streamer, or start your own fundraising page, every bit counts and we’ll be cheering you all on.” – Elicia Parkes, Electronic Arts Australia

“If you are a teenager in a regional part of Australia and you get diagnosed with cancer, it’s likely you will have to come to the city for treatment. This places a huge financial and emotional burden on these patients and their families. Our You Can Stay program is aiming to eliminate this issue by funding 10,000 nights of free accommodation for regional patients in the next 12 months. Every $100 raised during Gaming4Life will make an immediate impact in the lives of these families by funding one night in a Quest Apartment close to hospital, so their families can be by their side as they battle cancer,” said Sophie Ryan, CEO of Sony Foundation

If you want to stream to help raise money for this cause, you can register here and if you just want to watch, some streamers already on board are Mouad Zwed (MoZwed), DK Johnson (SparringDK) and Joshua Treadwell (Treaders).

So far, the Gaming4Life program has raised over $100,000 dollars, so big numbers are possible through videogames.
