Blizzard have revealed details about the future of World of Warcraft

The other week, Blizzard hosted the first of a series of updates to their ongoing properties, sorry Starcraft fans and the first was World of Warcraft. In the presentation, which you can watch at the bottom of the story, they go into the plans for World of Warcraft: Midnight, the new expansion coming next month along with both Burning Crusade and Mists of Pandaria Classic.

If you just want a rough idea of where things are going, the roadmap below will give you a good idea of what is coming. It is important to note that the map is for the Northern Hemisphere seasons, so Winter is our Summer, Spring is our Autumn and so on.

As you can see there is a lot of content coming to the two games, World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft Classic. Let’s begin with the newest game, which is just about ready to welcome Midnight to the game.

Ahead of the release of the expansion Midnight, World of Warcraft has been updated with The Twilight Ascension pre-expansion. This is a limited time event and runs through to the launch of Midnight on 2 March. This is where the stakes start to crystallize and the threat we face begins to take shape. It’s also where the Void makes itself felt in Azeroth. This is a repeatable event in which players join Umbric and Grand Magister Rommath to keep the Twilight’s Blade cult at bay.

Players take up World Quests and defeat rare enemies to disrupt the rituals of the Twilight’s Blade cult as well as earn event currency to use to purchase limited-time rewards such as armor sets, pets, a mount, and more. Players will also be able to collect new Housing decor to help furnish their home in Azeroth.

Also in the pre-expansion content update, players can take up a new Void-themed ranged Devourer specialization. Void Elf Demon Hunters can be unlocked after a short questline.

When the 12.1.5 update arrives this Spring, again Autumn for the Northern Hemisphere, it will include a new content type. Delves are a beloved aspect of the game, but the new addition is something a little more bite-sized, Labyrinths.

These are inspired by mega-dungeons. They are large sprawling experiences you can tackle all at once or a bit at a time depending on your own schedule. They will have a different form and reward structure than are currently available in Delves but retain the core elements of exploring and besting foes alongside your Delve companion.

There is a lot more for World of Warcraft, you can read all about it here.

Now for those who are back playing World of Warcraft Classic and the recent Mists of Pandaria expansion, or even the Burning Crusades expansion content, there is still more to look forward too.

Mists of Pandaria Classic continues in the original Classic realms with the next major milestone the release of the Escalation update in just a few weeks. It includes a new quest campaign, battleground, scenarios, and more. As per the roadmap above, updates for Mists of Pandaria Classic will continue to be released over time as they have done with the games previous expansions—with the Siege of Orgrimmar and the return of Timeless Isle later this year.

For Burning Crusade, well that has come back as Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary Edition. Another round of Illidan taunts and Fel Reaver terror. You’ll play through the chess event in Karazhan, face Magtheridon, and more throughout the year. This has a lot more to discover than what I can talk about, so be sure to give this post a read, it also includes dates for drops.

The full presentation for this can be found below, so if you want to hear direct from the source, give it a go.
