Ys X: Proud Nordics brings the adventure to more platforms this February

NIS America have announced that Ys X: Proud Nordics, the updated version of Ys X: Nordics, will arrive on February 27 for Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, but will now also arrive onto PlayStation 5 at the same time. Check out the new trailer for this updated release below.

The game is almost the exact same as the version that came out previously but there are new additions, with new mechanics, a new high difficulty dungeon and new story elements that are woven into the existing story.

Of course, as this is coming to more powerful platforms, the game has been given a facelift, offering up better graphics and performance. For those who want to experience the new story elements, you will need to make your way to Oland Island. Once there you will encounter Shield Siblings Canute and Astrid and then you can dig deep into the mystery surrounding this island in a story that's been seamlessly integrated into the original.

For those seeking a real challenge, you will need to take on the Divine Realm of Muspelheim, a dungeon more menacing than any other! On top of having a time limit to contend with, various traps and incredibly powerful opponents await within! Although Muspelheim is viciously difficult, rare resources called Deepcrystal Shards can be spent to ease the dungeon's restrictions through time limit extensions, enemy stat modifications, and more.

The new mechanic is called Mana Actions and with it you can swing, ride, sense and more. Mana String lets you flip switches from a distance or swing like Spider-Man, PlayStation 1 Spider-Man but still. As you play you can upgrade it, letting you whip and grab heavier items.

Mana Ride lets you hover above ground on the Gullinboard! Get a feel for a variety of high-speed experiences, such as traveling atop water surfaces, skating swiftly on Mana Rails, or catapulting through the sky from wind streams.

Mana Burst is a charged attack that releases a wave of elemental Mana—fire for Adol, ice for Karja. In addition to damaging enemies, these actions can be used to open up new routes, such as by burning up ivy or creating platforms of ice.

Mana Sense lets you see things you normally can't by peering through the Druid's Monocle. This allows you to locate enemies, detect traps or switches, and even find items buried in the ground. Enhancing the Druid's Monocle will hone your Mana Sense and slow down time around you, giving you the ability to get through doors that you otherwise couldn't, or race across footholds before they fall.

Finally, Mana Hold lets you use the power of mana to lift edifices and boulders, as well as launch them towards a location of your choice. Lifted objects are a major help in completing dungeons, since they can be used both in combat and to make platforms that open the way to new paths.
