Yakuza Kiwami 3 is remaking the 3rd game, complete with a new side story

During the RGG Summit, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced Yakuza Kiwami 3, a remake of Yakuza 3, which first released in 2009. But it won’t just be a remake, as a brand new side-story in Dark Ties. Check out the debut trailer for both below.
Here is a little about the third game in the series:
Continue the story of ex-yakuza Kazuma Kiryu as he fights to protect those he loves in an extreme remake of Yakuza 3 that evolves every aspect of the beloved game. The bustling streets of Okinawa and Tokyo come to life in stunning detail with reimagined combat taking brutal brawling action to the next level. Added scenes deliver more depth and emotion to the beloved story with new and enhanced side experiences that immerse you in the world like never before, and more.
As for Dark Ties, here is what has been said about this new side-story:
Experience the brand-new tale of Yoshitaka Mine from Yakuza 3 in an included separate game. Having once led a succesful startup company, he plunged himself into the dark world of the yakuza by choice after losing everything. Left with an empty heart, the pursuit to find true bonds drives him forward once again in a dramatic journey colored by exhilarating boxing-based combat, and a variety of engaging side experiences.
You can learn more about the game, the side-story and other additions on the official website.
The game will release on February 12, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 are getting physical releases, though for Nintendo fans that means a Game Key Card.
