Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown is bringing the series back
Sega have announced that Virtua Fighter 5 is getting remade and coming out on June 1st for the PlayStation 4 and while the gameplay will be the same as its original release, the graphics are all new.
This is a remaster of the original console port, which was a port of the arcade release, but the biggest difference is that the game will now feature graphics, running on the same engine that powers the Yakuza titles.
If that wasn’t enough, there will be new music for all the stages, new menus and interface options, as well as enhanced lighting, to make everything really pop.
“The Virtua Fighter series holds a storied place in SEGA lore,” said Seiji Aoki, Chief Producer. “This new title was developed as part of SEGA’s 60th Anniversary project by an all-star team at AM2 and Ryu ga Gotoku Studios. I am delighted for fans to play and experience the latest entry in the series.”
Taking things online will offer some new choices as the game will now allow players to spectate matches, if you don’t want to fight, but if you do, then you can create round-robin style tournaments for up to 16 players.
The game will release on PlayStation 4 on June 1st, there is no word on if it will come to other platforms.
