The Super Mario Galaxy Movie gets its first trailer

Nintendo and Illumination have released the first proper trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which has the crew from the first movie return and take off into space. Check it out below.

In addition to the returning cast that was confirmed in the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, we got two new characters revealed and the actors bringing them to life. Bowser Jr is here to cause mischief and will be voiced by Benny Safdie, who was last seen the the antagonist in Happy Gilmore 2.

The other new addition is Rosalina, who will be voiced by Brie Larson, known as Captain Marvel but also for her love of all things Nintendo, especially Animal Crossing and Metroid. More characters and actors are going to be revealed in the lead up to the films release, we have no idea who any of them could be though.

The returning cast includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Jack Black as Bowser and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

The directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are back from the first movie, as is the writer Matthew Fogel and composer Brian Tyler. Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto are producing the film. It will release in Australia on April 2nd, 2026 so there is still quite the wait ahead.
