The Sims 4 reveals two gameplay trailers for its upcoming Royalty & Legacy expansion

Electronic Arts have revealed a pair of gameplay trailers for the upcoming Royalty & Legacy expansion pack for The Sims 4, offering a look at two very different ways that things can play out. The first of the two is simply called Nobility.

A Noble is always on duty with many tasks: hold court, issue decrees, and more. Make choices to win the people’s loyalty or to gain favour from other Nobles. Doing your duties and earning Favour from commoners or Nobles can raise your title — but it’s not the only route to power. You can also rise by strange, magical means: woo a Noble Frog (it may accept or reject you), find crystal shoes that grant rank and love, face trials at Anansi’s Well, use a mirror that may reward or punish, or try to pull the legendary sword Simcalibur from the stone. Pulling Simcalibur makes you Kingdom Leader, but only someone worthy can claim it.

The second trailer is called Dynasty, and as you can imagine is more about the legacy you build up whilst wearing the crown.

A Dynasty’s power comes from shared Values set by the Dynasty Head (up to 3 skills and 3 Ideals). When members follow those Values—by choosing matching careers, improving the right skills, or doing related interactions—the Dynasty gains Prestige. Higher Prestige unlocks Perks like private tutors or Nepotism. Prestige falls when members act against the Values or get caught in Scandals (for example, an exposed affair with a rival’s member or a secret child). The Head also names an Heir and can declare Outcasts. Outcasts may seek redemption or rebel; Heirs may crack under pressure or succeed. Keep Unity high to trigger more positive events, or watch the drama if it’s low.

The Royalty & Legacy Expansion will release on February 12 for all platforms that The Sims 4 is on. Those who pre-order the expansion will also get some extra goodies for their game, the Enemies to Lovers Practice Dummy, A Crown of Leaves and Sparkles, and the Under the Stars Lantern.
