The Logitech Signature Slim Solar+ K980 Keyboard sees the light

In a weird but welcome move, Logitech have announced that their solar keyboard is back, but this time it isn’t just sunlight that charges it. The new Logitech Signature Slim Solar+ will charge of any sufficiently bright light, even your computer screen.

This new keyboard is an evolution of the K750 that released around a decade ago, but unlike that one, this will charge of all light sources, as long as they are 200 nits of brightness. The best part is that after you charge it, the battery will last you for four months, even if your workspace is completely dark.

Even the need to think about charging can be a distraction, so we designed Signature Slim Solar+ to take that off your plate completely. It stays powered by light - any light - clearing your desk of cables and eliminating the need to ever physically charge it, while bringing elegance and comfort to your workspace. That’s one less thing to worry about on a busy working day.

Perhaps the coolest news, you know apart from the solar powered keyboard, is that the plastic parts in the graphite version of Signature Slim Solar+ feature 70% certified post-consumer recycled plastic, and include a specially designed rechargeable battery built to last up to 10 years, eliminating the need for replacement. These choices align with Logitech’s Design for Sustainability principles, aiming to reduce our carbon footprint while ensuring durability, reliability, and long-term performance

The keyboard is available now at most computer retailers and has a RRP of $179.95, making it a very affordable long term option.
