The God of War TV series has picked up its first cast member

Prime Video and PlayStation Productions have announced the first cast member to join the roster of the upcoming God of War TV series. Ryan Hurst is a name not many will know, but he was Harry 'Opie' Winston in Sons of Anarchy, Li'l Foster Farrell in Outsiders and Beta from The Walking Dead. Gamers will know him as the actor who brought Thor to life in God of War: Ragnarok.

Now Hurst will put down the hammer and pick up the blades of chaos. Details of the show are of course, very light but we do know it will be based around the Norse mythology games, rather than the Greek mythology ones.

The show has already been given a two-season order, which could mean a season per game, or it could be something more. All we know about the outline is that it follows the first game, where Kratos and Atreus attempt to venture to the highest point in the land to spread the ashes of Faye.

The director of the first two episodes is Frederick E.O. Toye, who has directed episodes in Shōgun, The Boys, and Fallout. Herman Hulst and Cory Balrog from PlayStation are co-executive producers on the series, which can only hopefully mean things are good.

The show is in pre-production right now, so there is going to be quite a wait until we see it on screens, but I am happy for them to take their time with it.
