The first look at Lara Croft from the upcoming live action Tomb Raider is here

We have known for a while now that Sophie Turner will strap on the pair of guns and become Lara Croft in the new live-action TV series from Prime Video and now we have our first look as her dressed up as Lara, check it out.
When she was first announced as taking up the mantle of such an iconic character, I will admit, I said she was not the right choice. That being said, she looks quite a lot like the Angelina Jolie version of Lara Croft, which is the only other live action one worth caring about. No shade to Alicia Vikander, she did a great job, but the movie was not that great.
“I’ve been a long-time fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara. She has always felt for me, very emboldened in a male dominated world. She’s a fierce female role model!”
The show is being created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who was last seen in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
“Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters. I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favourites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix. This cast is beyond my wildest dreams!”
This first look comes only a week or so after most of the remaining cast had been revealed. The first three actors joining the cast are Martin Bobb-Semple, Jason Isaacs and Sigourney Weaver. The first three characters have been confirmed to be taken from the game series.
Martin Bobb-Semple is Zip, Zip is Lara Croft’s long-standing tech support and friend,
Jason Isaacs is Atlas DeMornay, Lara’s uncle,
Bill Paterson is Winston, the long-standing Croft family butler.
Sigourney Weaver is Evelyn Wallis, a mysterious, high-flying woman who is keen to exploit Lara's talents. While not from the games, she is too iconic not to put in above the image.
In addition to those three, the remaining cast has been confirmed to be based off characters from the larger Tomb Raider Universe, they are:
Jack Bannon is Gerry
Gerry is Lara’s personal pilot and snack collector.
John Heffernan is David
David is an exhausted government official who finds himself tangled up in Lara's unusual world.
Celia Imrie is Francine
Francine is the Head of Advancement at the British Museum, focused solely on raising funds and glasses of champagne.
Paterson Joseph is Thomas Warner
Thomas Warner is a senior government official brought in to clean up an almighty mess.
Sasha Luss is Sasha
Sasha is a fierce, deeply competitive new adversary of Lara’s.
Juliette Motamed is Georgia
Georgia is a devoted, by-the-books curator at the British Museum, dedicated to the ‘proper’ preservation of history.
August Wittgenstein is Lukas
Lukas is an illegal raider who shares history with Lara in more ways than one.
There are no story details at this time, so we don’t know if this is a re-telling of an existing game, one of the many comics or books, or something entirely new. Given the look, I would wager the show is going more of the original style of Lara, rather than the reboot series.
For those curious, Crystal Dynamics are working on the show alongside the other creative minds, and will have provided character insights and such as well.
There is no premiere date for the show, as production has just gotten underway, so we are likely 18 months away from seeing it.
