The first official shots from The Legend of Zelda movie have been released

Overnight, Nintendo pushed an update out via the Nintendo Today mobile app, that provided the first official look at Link and Zelda, from the upcoming movie, The Legend of Zelda.
Over the weekend footage of the movie being filmed started to hit social media, as production began, but Nintendo seems to have decided to release their own shots. The stills below were also shared to Nintendo’s social channels, giving folks a better look.
Link is being played in the movie by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, whose biggest role to date was that of Pinocchio in the movie of the same name, opposite Tom Hanks. Zelda is being played by Bo Bragason, who is best known as Roxy Jackson in the Disney+ series Renegade Nell. While the leaked footage shows more actors, no official casting announcements have been made at this time.
The movie is being directed by Wes Ball, who most recently directed Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and before that, the Maze Runner trilogy of movies. The writer is Derek Connolly, who wrote the Jurassic World movies, well the first three and is also tapped to write a Metal Gear Solid movie script and a Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover, so the story might be all over the place.
Fans of the series might be looking at the shots of both characters and feeling that things are amiss, given that the character of Link appears more to be Twilight Princess based, but the blue on Zelda is more Breath of the Wild. Of course the world of Hyrule is going to look quite a bit like middle-earth as the film is being shot in New Zealand. Will all of this come together in a fun way?
We will have to wait and see, as the movie is set to release in May 2027, so there is still quite a while to go.
