The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is coming to Switch 2 later this year

After giving dates for the two known Switch 2 titles in Indiana Jones and Fallout 4, Bethesda had one more surprise in store for Nintendo Direct viewers, when they revealed that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was coming to the platform later this year.
The game is a reimagining of the original 2006 release The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and features updated visuals, enhanced combat, extra missions and both expansion packs. For almost the entire lifespan of the Switch, I kept saying I wanted Oblivion to release on the platform, and while this is not the original game, I will happily take it.
We reviewed the game when it launched last year on the other platforms, you can find that here, and while we loved it, there were a number of weird visual issues that were popping up quite frequently. Thankfully the developers at Virtuos have released a number of fixes since the games release and corrected a few of those pain points.
While there is no release date for the game, beyond 2026, I would imagine a November release is likely for this one, given The Elder Scrolls seems to enjoy releasing games in that month. It will release digitally, but the physical is just a code-in-a-box release, no actual card will be included.
