The Disney Afternoon Collection is coming to Switch & Switch 2

Disney and Atari have pulled their stories and trailers for this news, which likely just means it was posted early in error. The Japanese eShop still has a listing though, so the details have not changed.

Capcom and Digital Eclipse announced the Disney Afternoon Collection years ago and it hit the platforms of the day, except Switch. Atari are now correcting that error, bringing the collection to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, with extra games and content.

The games that launched with the other versions are:

  • DuckTales (1989)

  • DuckTales 2 (1993)

  • Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers (1990)

  • Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2 (1994)

  • Darkwing Duck (1992)

  • TaleSpin (1991)

But Switch and Switch 2 players will also get

  • Goof Troop (1993)

  • Bonkers (1994)

If you are not tracking console generations, the original games are all from the NES, with the two new additions being SNES titles. Many of the other Capcom games are already available on Switch with the Disney Classic Games Collection.

A fun fact for those who like Resident Evil, Goof Troop, while based off the tv series, was designed by Shinji Mikami. He would finish that game and then be inspired to create Resident Evil.

For those physical collectors, a retail release is happening with both Switch and Switch 2 getting the game on cards, no key card in sight. As you can see below, it will also come with stickers, art card and 8 retro milk caps. No word yet on if we are getting this down under, will update the story if that changes.

The collection will arrive on February 26 for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
