The debut Thunderful World was loaded with trailers and reveals

Only a few hours ago, at the time of writing, Thunderful hosted their first ever Thunderful world, which gave us looks at all new games, updates to some existing titles and a few release dates, so lets get into it.

The Gunk

Announced a year ago, The Gunk is a 3rd person adventure game where you take on the role of Rani, who along with her friend and partner Becks, are struggling to make a buck, but as they chance upon a mysterious planet laden with a wealth of natural resources, they feel their luck turning around. While cashing in on the planet’s seemingly bountiful riches, they encounter the gunk and realise its detrimental effect on the planet, creating a moral dilemma for the duo.

The game is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC as an exclusive release and will launch on December 16, with a day one addition to Xbox Game Pass.

Wavetale

This is the game that kicked off the show, releasing today on Stadia (yeah that is still a thing) and coming to consoles and PC in 2022, Wavetale puts you in control of Sigrid, a young girl who befriends a mysterious shadow that provides her with the power to walk on water.

Explore an open sea and the decaying archipelago of Strandville, speed through the waves, swing yourself from housetops with your net, and defeat an old nemesis to save the citizens of the islands, all with a bit of help from the shadows down below—and your cranky grandmother.

Togges

Coming to PC and consoles in 2022, this one is different. Togges is a unique 3D platforming game about spreading and stacking adorable cubes (the titular Togges). Players can experiment with the mechanics, combining different Togges’ colours and abilities to find new and unexpected ways to solve puzzles, traverse the world and interact with its characters.

Togges is chock full of open-ended levels set across stunning environments: from a futuristic city in the Savannah, to a realm made entirely of carrot cake, the universe is a strange and wonderful place indeed.

White Shadow

Launching on December 7 for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, this is the debut title from developers Monokel and tells the story of Ravengirl, who is on a journey to escape the dystopia of The White City, a dangerous metropolis consisting of a vast network of towers rising high into the dark sky.

The White City combines an industrial steampunk aesthetic with that of a sci-fi dystopia, resulting in a truly unique setting. This modern fable offers a relatable human story laced with social criticism.

Swordship

In a world where games in the schmup genre require shooting, a lot of shooting, what would a game be like if there was nothing for you to shoot, what would that even look like? Swordship poses that very question as the game offers a top down view, where you have to dodge everything, but it isn’t just about you staying alive, your dodging can cause enemies to kill each other.

If that wasn’t enough to worry about, you can also steal containers floating on the water and deliver them to upgrade your ship, giving you a better chance at surviving, or improve your score to boast about your dodging prowess.

The game is coming to PC and consoles in 2022.

Hell Pie

Hell Pie sees you grab the horns of Nate, the ‘Demon of Bad Taste’. He is given the honorable task of gathering the disgusting ingredients for Satan’s infamous birthday pie. To do so, Nate must venture out into the overworld and do whatever it takes to ensure those ingredients are secured in time, or there’ll be hell to pay. Luckily Nate isn’t alone on this quest, his ‘pet’ angel Nugget is there to offer support. Nugget offers his holy insight when needed, but more importantly is chained to Nate, so can be used like a grappling hook or swung around as a weapon.

Developed by Sluggerfly, this is game is coming to PC and consoles in 2022, with a wishlist option available on Steam today.

Laika: Aged Through Blood

Ever wondered, what it Metroid could ride a bike, that is something you may consider in Laika: Aged Through Blood, the world’s first moto-vania title. In this anthropomorphic society, different factions vie for control of the desert’s many outposts. Take control of a young Coyote warrior as she rides her motorbike on a path of vengeance, taking back the land that her tribe has lost.

Drive, jump and fight your way across the desert as you ride your way through an epic story told over 6 chapters. Meet NPCs to take on new missions and earn new gear. Take on enemies in midair with deadly precision using slow-mo to line up your perfect shot. Master these abilities to take on huge bosses, who will test your skills to the limit.

The game is coming to PC and consoles in 2022.

Industria

Industria is set in 1989 on the eve of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Playing as a scientist named Nora, you set out to search for your missing friend and lover, leading you into the parallel dimension city of Hakavik, where East Berlin’s brutalist architecture merges with strange technological apparatuses and futuristic robots. With limited resources and weapons, Nora roams this dystopian landscape hoping to survive long enough to put together the pieces that will allow her to decode the mystery at the heart of Hakavik.

The game is already out for PC, but will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2022

SteamWorld Headhunter

Perhaps the series that developer Image and Form as best known for, though their upcoming title The Gunk may sway some folks away, Steamworld has been around for quite a while and Steamworld Headhunter is the next entry in the series.

Taking place after the events of Steamworld Dig 2, the only thing we know is that this is now a 3rd person co-op action adventure with a head-popping twist. The team at Thuderful have promised more soon, maybe at The Game Awards next month, but either way, I am excited to learn more about this next chapter in the long running series.
