The Apex 5 from SteelSeries is redefining the heart of a mechanical keyboard

SteelSeries have announced that their latest keyboards are hitting store shelves in Australia and while the Apex 3 is impressive, the Apex 5 has it beat, but the best news, it won’t cost you as much as you think.

Featuring a hybrid mechanical switch, the keyboard is set to offer the best of both worlds, but they are not a combination of mechanical or membrane keys, but something new, you can read more on it here, but from that post, the gist is:

What makes it a "hybrid mechanical" is how the circuit connects after you press the key. We saved costs on the inside of the board by replacing the traditional gold-plated circuits with a super durable membrane actuation. This makes bottoming out the key feel more comfortable.

What this means is that a mechanical keyboard, would normally cost about $350 AUD, can now be obtained for a much cheaper price, most stores are set to sell the Apex 5 for around $200.

On top of that though, the keyboard also has an inbuilt OLED display, which can give you notifications on things, updates from your Discord for example. Plus with dedicated media controls, and a per key RGB system, you can use it to light up your gaming experience like nothing else.
