Supergirl reveals its first teaser trailer ahead of its 2026 release

DC Studios have released the first teaser trailer for Supergirl, the first movie for the hero in over 40 years. Check it out below.

Fans got their first look at the character at the end of 2025’s Superman, where she came back to reclaim her dog, and now fans will get to see what adventures she is up to in her own movie. In the teaser we got our first glimpse of new characters Clem and Ruthye, plus Jason Momoa’s Lobo, though that one is a blink and you miss it moment.

The reasons are various, but the main one is when Ana Nogueira wrote the Woman of Tomorrow script, it was fantastic and at DC Studios, we care most about the writing. So, we just instantly greenlit the movie.

I remember when the graphic novel first came out. Peter and I were kind of talking about taking over DC, but hadn’t decided yet, and I called Peter. I said, ‘Have you seen this book by Tom King, Woman of Tomorrow?’ I told him how great it was, what an interesting take it was on Supergirl. I said, ‘You know who would be great? If you’ve seen that little blonde girl in House of the Dragon, I think she would be great, because it’s a rock-and-roll Supergirl.
— James Gunn, DC Studios co-CEO

The movie is inspired by the series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, though some parts will carry to the big screen, there will be more than a few changes and surprises for fans of that book.

The movie will release here in Australia on June 25, 2026, so another six months to wait.
