Stargate is making a return as a new series is announced

In a move that is honestly shocking, Prime Video have announced that a brand new Stargate series is on the way, with members of the original tv series working on the new one, but it gets even crazier.

When Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner created the show Stargate SG-1, it was a continuation of the movie that was created by Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, but they were not involved. While Stargate continued on the small screen, Emmerich stayed on the big screen creating movies like Independence Day and 2012.

This time around, they will be involved as producers, in fact the new show is being created by Martin Gero, who came onboard to the franchise with Stargate Atlantis, but the originals series creator Brad Wright is back as a consulting producer. They will also be joined by Joe Mallozzi, another SG-1 allum who is back in the producer role this time, he wrote one of my favourite SG-1 episodes, Window of Opportunity. They will also be joined by Safehouse Pictures’ Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell, who most recently worked on Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

Details for the new show are super scarce, we do know that it will be a continuation of the series, so fans of stories or characters will likely hear them mentioned in this new show. However, there is also no casting revealed at this time, though you can begin to guess on which actors from the original series may return, just know that the original SG-1 are now 55 and over, so they may opt not to return.

You can check out the announcement for the series below. If you can’t wait for the series, you can enjoy some Stargate on PC today.
