Rocket League is going free to play later this Winter

Psyonix, the studio behind the popular Rocket League have announced that the game will soon pivot to a free to play model, including a release on the Epic Game Store, but the best news it will enable cross progression on all versions, be it PC, Switch, Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

The team released a blog post, explaining about some more things in detail, but basically, if you play Rocket League now, nothing changes for you, all your progression, items and such all remain the same. If you are playing on PlayStation 4 and think PC is where you want to go, all that will also transfer, you just need to link your existing game to an Epic Games Account.

There is also a handy FAQ, for those that might have some questions, check that out as well. Of course, those that have been playing for years are getting a few new goodies, some cosmetic items, including a year that you first went online with the game.

The only downside is that when the game is made free to play on Epic Game Store, it will no longer be available to get on Steam, this won’t impact anyone who already has it there.
