Pokémon Legends: Z-A is getting new 4 player battles

At the Pokémon World Championships 2025, it was revealed that Pokémon Legends Z-A would be getting a new 4 player battle mode. In this new mode, players will need to defeat the most Pokémon in 3 minutes, in order to win, but you won’t fight wild Pokémon, rather the Pokémon from the other trainers.

When any of your Pokémon faint, you will return to your starting point and re-enter the battle with all your Pokémon fully recovered. Defeating an opponent’s Pokémon earns you a point, and those points determine your ranking. Mega Power orbs, which can be collected to Mega Evolve your Pokémon, may also appear around the stage, as well as items to boost your Pokémon’s stats temporarily.

But that is not all, it was also confirmed that the game would have Ranked Battles and Private Battles, so you can battle your friends or test your squad against the rest of the world. Private Battles can be done locally or online, but the latter needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership to enjoy. More details about the battle modes should come closer to the games release.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A arrives on October 16th for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, with pre-orders available now.
