PAX Australia: Nintendo has detailed their show line up

We learnt a while ago that Nintendo would be showing up to PAX Australia 2023, they are one of only a few game companies to do so and the only console maker. Part of the first announcement was that there would be finals for some Splatoon 3 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe events, now we know the full scope.

First up, let us see where Nintendo are on the show floor. Nintendo will be located at booth 1020, which is the yellow one in red below, it is also the biggest booth on the show floor. The second red box is the PAX Arena, more on that down further.

Nintendo will offer up a number of their first party titles to attendees to play, including the first public playing of Super Mario Bros Wonder. In addition to their first party content, some 3rd party games will also be on hand, including Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown from Ubisoft. Here is everything playable at the Nintendo booth.

Nintendo Published

  • Super Mario Bros. Wonder

  • Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask

  • Detective Pikachu Returns

  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

  • Pikmin 4

Third Party Titles

  • Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

  • STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R

  • Sonic Superstars

Like in years past, there will be a number of items that people can obtain. All visitors to the booth can pick up the Detective Pikachu hat, anyone who is a My Nintendo member and checks in can pick up an exclusive 8-bit Mario pin and finally, if you play the DLC for Pokemon, you can take home a pin set.

For those who like to pick up a few goodies from events, the PAX Merch store will be around as always, but for the first time, Nintendo will have their own store on the show floor.

Entry to the store is free to all, however there is a ticket system in place for entry, so people can actually explore it and not be crushed by everyone else in there. Tickets will be distributed 3 times each day and once an allocation for one group is gone, they are gone. Tickets will become available at the following times:

  • 10AM

  • 12PM

  • 2:30PM

Once you have a ticket, your return time will be provided to you, for example a 10am ticket will give you a return time between 10:30am and 12pm. It is crucial that you return at the time and line up, missing thins will not allow you in later on. If you lose your ticket, there are no reissues to be provided either, so stick to your ticket.

The final bits to be aware of, first is the store will be card only, no cash sales will be allowed. The second is that there is a purchase limit of 2 of the same product per transaction, meaning you can’t buy 3 of the same item at once.

The PAX Arena (see the black square outlined in red in the map) is where the finals of the Splatoon 3 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe AU/NZ Championships will take place. Seats there are first come first served, so if you want to check them out, here is when you need to be there by.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

  • Sunday 8th October 2:30pm

Splatoon 3

  • Sunday 8th October 4:30pm

For those not able to make it to the show, the finals will also be broadcast on Twitch.
