New details for Splatoon 3's Salmon Run Next Wave have been revealed

During the recent Splatoon 3 Direct, Nintendo revealed new details about Salmon Run Next Wave, the updated game mode, where teams of players attempt to survive wave, after wave of enemies, in the hopes of getting eggs.

The first big change, you can play Salmon Run at anytime. Previously, if you wanted to play Salmon Run, you could only do so whenever the game opened the mode up, which was a little random. So them now allowing you to play the mode whenever you want, is a welcome change.

We have one new screen for one of the maps, which you can see below, but the rest of the details focused on the bosses.

Specifically there will be new Boss Salmonids that players will encounter, two of which were detailed in the direct, Big Shot and Slammin’ Lid.

The first one, Big Shot, will launch heavy projectiles into the map and when they land, they will cause a shockwave, that can knock you back.

The second one is Slammin’ Lid and it creates a wall of protection for the smaller Salmonids to make use off, but if you get to close, it will slam down to the ground in the hopes of squashing you. Check out some screens of the both of them below.

Finally, we got a few more details about that massive Kaiju sized Salmonid, called Cohozuna, this is a King Salmonid and the only way to defeat them is by launching Golden Eggs into it. You can do that, because the tank on your back gets swapped out, so no more ink, but instead you get an egg launcher.

Plus, Big Runs are coming in the future … an event when Salmonids invade the city in which Inklings and Octolings live, but we have to wait for more details on that one.
