Hyper Scape is a new style of Battle Royale

Ubisoft have announced Hyper Scape, their entry in the ever increasing Battle Royale genre, but this one as a little bit of a difference built in, it is about player and viewer interaction. The game is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but those on PC can give the game a go now, with the games technical test.

The game itself is a close quarters FPS, that takes place in a location that goes high and low, giving players multiple vantage points to use, but a quick finger is not all you need. In order to hack your way to the crown, you will need to HACK.

"We’ve built something really unique and fresh by streamlining the experience to focus on fun and intensity. We’re really excited to let players have a try at it right away and we can’t wait to hear what they think of it" said Graeme Jennings, Senior Producer on Hyper Scape at Ubisoft Montreal. "But this is just the start. Hyper Scape is a universe that is built to grow, and our players will see the beginnings of that even during our technical test.”

HACKS are abilities that you can use in order to take the advantage and depending on how you use them, things can go in your favour, or the other way entirely. You can do things like laying down Mines, that will seek out nearby enemies, or engage some Invisibility to hide your approach to the back of your enemy. Want to get into the action faster, you can use Slam, a move that will send you crashing down to the ground, dealing damage when you land.

Because this is all set in a city of the future, there are new things you might not expect to discover there, including the fact that the games are overseen by the AI Game Master. This trickster of a program will play cards that will affect the entire world, giving players buffs at any time, in order to change the flow of combat.

The city itself is also different, as it will start off large and when the arena of play starts to shrink, you won't find a wall of energy or flames moving in, no entire districts of the map will be erased. The question is, will you take out enemies to score the victory, or will you push forward at all costs in attempt to take the crown?
