Hela conjures up a gameplay deep dive

Knights Peak and developer Windup Games have released a gameplay deep dive for Hela, the upcoming adventure game where players take control of a small mouse, in a world briming with magic, check it out.
The Froggy Backpack is the heart of adventure in Hela, gifting the tiny mouse with extraordinary abilities and newfound courage to explore a world brimming with magic, mystery, and endless wonder.
The Frog Tongue lets players latch onto branches, beams, and ledges to swing, climb, or gain momentum. More than a mobility tool, it’s an interactive mechanic: pull objects closer, drag items into position, or even create makeshift bridges between players. When used with forest creatures, the tongue functions like a lasso, leveraging their speed and strength for thrilling rides.
Inflating the backpack opens a paraglider for smooth landings and aerial stunts. Learning to glide, change altitude, use air currents, and make sharp turns lets you explore Hela’s vertical spaces. On the ground, the inflated pack becomes a bouncy platform for reaching higher places solo or with friends.
A powerful plunge sends the mouse hurtling toward the ground with force, ideal for uncovering hidden paths, bouncing off trampolines, or simply creating a bit of joyful mayhem.
As a trusty companion, the backpack safely stores gathered items, ingredients, and tools, keeping them secure until they’re needed back at the witch’s cottage.
For solo players or smaller teams, the backpack’s magic allows the creation of Shades, echoing the player’s actions. Whether lassoing, bridging, or gliding, Shades ensure that the adventure is always a full team effort, even when playing alone.
The game is coming later this year for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
