Fairy Tail are giving you new fighters to play as, plus new magic to use

Koei Tecmo have released new details for Fairy Tail, the upcoming action game, based on the popular manga and anime, including new playable characters.

The five new additions come from rival guilds to that of Fairy Tail, though fans will know how their stories play out, but as the action takes place during the middle of the series, they are rivals still. The new additions include the ‘Sky God Slayer’ Sherria Blendy from Lamia Scale, the ‘Strongest Fencer’ Kagura Mikazuchi from Mermaid Heel, the ‘Handsome’ Blue Pegasus mage Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki, and the ‘White Dragon’ Sting Eucliffe and ‘Shadow Dragon’ Rogue Cheney from Sabertooth, with those last two, also being Dragon Slayers.

When in combat, enemies will be placed on a 3 by 3 grid, with attacks from the members of your party, able to deal out damage in set sequences on it, some attacks might go two squares wide, others two high. But with each successful attack, you will slowly build up the Fairy Gauge. This special ‘Magic Chain’ attack allows each party member to deal a combo of attacks before unleashing a powerful finisher – sometimes strong characters, like the beloved Guild Leader Makarov, may even jump in to deal devastating damage with their ‘Extreme Magic’.

The game is set to release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Switch in 2020, but set release date has been provided yet, for now though, we have new screens to enjoy.
