Donkey Kong Country Returns HD adds Dixie Kong to the game and more

In a move that is surprising, Nintendo have announced that Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, the game which launched a year go, has now been given a big update and a Switch 2 update. The big news for all is that Dixie Kong is now a playable character, giving more lift to the jumps, when you use her hair.

As you can see in the trailer above, it is not just Dixie Kong being added, the game will now offer a high-speed variant of each level in what they are calling Turbo Attack. When you select the game, if you choose Diddy Kong and wish to swap to Dixie Kong, when you are on the map screen, you just need to click in the stick to swap between them. When you are in a stage and are just DK, the barrels that normally had Diddy, will now alternate between DD and DX on them, picking them up when DX is present will give you Dixie.

For Nintendo Switch 2 players, the game will now run in 4K, offer higher-definition graphics and—most importantly—significantly faster load times.

The game will also support GameShare, so if you have a friend or family member who is still on Switch, you can share the game to them, in order to play co-op together.
