Directive 8020 will offer you a lot of choices when it arrives this May

Supermassive Games have announced that Directive 8020, their next chapter of horror, will arrive on May 12 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In celebration of the news they have released a new trailer called ‘Comply’ and highlights the choices players will need to make, check it out.

Earth is dying and humanity is running out of time. 12 light years from home, Tau Ceti f offers a small sliver of hope. When the colony ship Cassiopeia crash lands on the planet, its crew soon realize they are far from being alone.

Hunted by an alien organism capable of mimicking its prey, the crew of the Cassiopeia must outwit their pursuers to make it home alive. As they battle to survive, they are confronted with the hardest choice of all: to save themselves, they must risk the lives of everyone on Earth.

The trailer highlights Cooper, the ship's medic, who is fuelled by paranoia and faces a harrowing decision as her crewmate Mitchell pleads for release from behind a sealed door. Cooper, unknowing if he’s human or not, has a difficult decision to make. This moment underscores a core theme of Directive 8020: trust no one, as every action has consequences.

That is the big point of the game, the choices that you make will determine who lives and who does not. But don’t despair as there are new tools to help you ensure you or your favourite character survive the threat. This is done because Directive 8020 introduces Turning Points, a brand-new feature for The Dark Pictures that allows players to rewind and revisit key decisions, tailoring the experience to different playstyles. Whether uncovering every possible outcome or braving the story with no second chances, Turning Points gives players greater control over how they survive the horrors of deep space.

You can track and explore alternative narrative branches, to discover hidden endings or other secrets you may have missed. Or you can rewind time to the point before a fatal choice was made, allowing you to save someone you couldn’t before. For those who don’t want any of that, the game will offer a Survivors mode, which is just the game and you get one chance at every choice, good or bad, it is all on you.

The game will be released digitally for all platforms on May 12 and a physical release for the consoles is also happening the same day.
