Beat Saber is ending support for the PlayStation versions of the game

In a move that should not be that surprising to anyone who remembers that the developer of the Beat Saber, Beat Games was bought by Meta, but they have now announced that they are done with the PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR2 versions of the game.
In the message which you can read below, the studio has announced that going forward there will be no new songs released for on PlayStation. You can still buy the game and play it, owners can still enjoy it as well, but after January 21, 2026 the games multiplayer will also be going away.
The studio has been owned by Meta for 5 years now, so they kept support going longer than you might have guessed, but it just seems clear as day that a studio who is owned by a VR platform maker, would stop supporting other VR platforms, on order to force people to buy their own platform. Given that Beat Saber released songs is almost in single digits yearly, I really have to question what the studio is doing, for reference I can only find 3 songs released so far in 2025.
In any event the full statement is below.
Dear PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 5 players,
As we look to the future and plan the next big leap for Beat Saber, we have made the decision to no longer release updates for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 starting in June 2025. Our passion for virtual reality remains unwavering. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and what we can bring to Beat Saber fans who have been on this journey with us over the past seven years.
What this means for you:
This update will not impact your ability to keep playing Beat Saber, and you will still have access to content that you previously purchased on the PlayStation platform.
Beat Saber will still be available for purchase on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 devices, and you can still play or purchase songs or music packs that were released prior to June 18, 2025. However, no new content will be released on these platforms after that date.
Additionally, starting on January 21, 2026, multiplayer will no longer be available in Beat Saber on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Cross-buy, however, will remain active between the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 base game.
We’re grateful for the incredible support you’ve shown us over the years, and we’re excited to share what the future holds for Beat Saber.
