Bandai Namco and Koei Tecmo forge a new partnership for local game distribution

In a move that is real surprising, Bandai Namco and Koei Tecmo have revealed that they will be working together, in order for games from Koei Tecmo to release in Australia. So, what does that really mean?
Well, for gamers not a damn thing. The titles that you see on store shelves from Koei Tecmo are not going anywhere, it is just whomever the local distributor is, is being replaced by Bandai Namco Australia. This will take effect beginning on January 1st, 2026.
The first game that would fall into this new agreement would be the Nintendo Switch 2 release of Dynasty Warriors Origins, with 2026 also seeing Nioh 3 release and Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake.
“Getting the trust from an established Japanese publisher like KOEI TECMO is a testament of the fantastic work our local sales teams have been doing for all our partners in the past years. We’re humbled to take the responsibility to bring the fantastic content from KOEI TECMO to market ”
“We are thrilled to join forces with Bandai Namco, whose outstanding regional expertise and trusted distribution network make them the ideal partner to expand KOEI TECMO’s retail reach across EMEA and ANZ. This collaboration marks an exciting new chapter built on shared values and trust.”
This is not the first time that two companies have as Ubisoft signed a deal with Plaion earlier this year to do the same thing. It will be important to note that as Koei Tecmo does do work for console makers like Hyrule Warriors for Nintendo or Ninja Gaiden 4 with Xbox, those games will be published by those companies.
