ARK: Survival Evolved is getting another go on Switch with the Ultimate Survivor Edition

Studio Wildcard have announced that ARK: Survival Evolved is coming back to Switch, this time though as the Ultimate Survival Edition and its coming this September.

The game is on Switch now, but it hasn’t been well received, running quite poorly and suffering from numerous issues and the team have a solution, they are rebuilding the game from the ground up for Switch.

“Overhauling the gameplay for ARK on Switch has been on our radar for a while and we’re happy to have found a talented team who can help us realize that vision,” said Jesse Rapczak, Co-founder and Co-Creative Director, Studio Wildcard. “Adding a brand new mode that lets younger players interact with the unique primordial creatures within ARK provides a depth to the experience we hope families will enjoy!”

When the enhanced version is released in September, everyone who already owns the ARK: Survival Evolved base game on Nintendo Switch will receive this complete revamp of functionality, graphics, and optimisation.

But it isn’t just a new subtitle and a rebuild of the game, the Ultimate Survivor Edition comes with the base game and all of its massive expansions, so:

  • Scorched Earth

  • Aberration

  • Extinction

  • Genesis Parts 1 & 2

The base game and Scorched Earth will be there at launch, but the others will come every 2 months until all released.

What is weird though, is that there are no assets for the announcement, given that the game needs to look and run a lot better this time around, not showing anything off is not a great sign. It is early days still, so those elements could still come, but if it were me, I would be showing off how much better things look.
