Apex Legends gets some good news for PC and bad for Switch

It was back during EA Play Live, the event, not the streaming service, that EA and Respawn announced that Apex Legends would soon becoming to Steam and Switch and now we can say that one of those is happening this year.

Starting off with Steam, the game will release there on November 4, when Season 7 kicks off and those who do pick up the game there and have been playing on Origin, all your progress transfers over, so you won’t lose anything.

Now for the sad news, the Switch release, which was also planned for this year, has been delayed and will now hit sometime in 2021. Chad Grenier, Game Director on Apex Legends had this to say about the Switch delay.

Second, for those who game on the Nintendo Switch,we’re still hard at work on the port, but in order to do justice to the game and make it into the great experience Switch players deserve, our team needs more time. This year has brought on unexpected new challenges, to put it mildly, and we don’t want to rush anything out.

Switch owners can expect to get their hands on Apex Legends next year. And of course, when Apex Legends does launch on Switch, it’ll come with support for cross-platform play, our latest seasonal content, and full feature parity with the other versions of the game.

We can’t wait to get Apex Legends into your hands (or your TV-connected dock) on Switch.

Given that the game was rated recently by the ESRB on Switch, one would hope it’s fairly far along, perhaps just needs some additional polish. When the game does release, it will mean that cross-play is also available for all, it is currently in public testing and things are looking good.
