WWE Live 2017 Melbourne

Thanks to 2k Sports Australia the Maxi-Geek team were invited to attend the WWE Live event in Melbourne at Rod Laver Arena. The event featured some of biggest names in the WWE such as RAW general manager and wrestling legend Kurt Angle, Jason Jordan, the wild and crazy Braun Strowman, The Hardy Boyz and WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz.

Before the carnage in the arena started we met up with our group and were ushered up to the VIP area for free drinks and nibbles and a meet and greet and photo opportunity with both Apollo Crews and Sasha Banks, both wrestlers had a Q&A session with the crowd in the VIP area and it was great getting up so close with two of the superstars of the sport.

Soon enough we were escorted down to our excellent seats that were very close to ringside in a mostly sold out arena. I must say the WWE knows how to put on a show, I was a bit disappointed at the lack of fireworks as seen in most other WWE events but the volume of the music and the light show certainly made up for that, WWE certainly don't do things by halves when it comes to getting their brand of sports entertainment to Australia.

All up we were treated to seven matches with the running time of the show being close to 2 hours. The wrestlers certainly know how to entertain the crowd and the crowd certainly reacted to all of their over the top antics. My favourite match was the street fight match (anything goes) between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman, these two guys are absolutely monstrous and caused the ring to shake and wobble on several occasions as they slammed each other to the ground. The whole premise of this street fight match was that anything goes, including tables, and both of these absolute giants slammed each other through tables on several occasions, amazing stuff. In the end, it was Roman Reigns who got the hard-fought victory in this match.

All in all the WWE live event was an exciting and amazing experience and if you have any sort of interest in wrestling I would recommend getting down to any of the WWE events when they tour Australia. It certainly has me more hyped to get my hands on 2K Sports WWE 2k18 when it releases on consoles this week.
