Image and Form games have announced that SteamWorld Dig 2 will be releasing on Nintendo Switch on September 21st, with the PlayStation 4 and PC releases set to follow not long after, check out the release date announcement trailer below.

SteamWorld Dig 2 is bigger and bolder than the previous game, no longer are worlds procedurely created, this time there is a distinct design to them, almost as if some ancient civilization was behind it. You will now play as Dorothy, whom, if you played the first game, will look familiar, as she is on her own quest to locate Rusty, not believing that the end has come for the treasure seeking explorer.

Players will get a to use a host of upgrades, some of which are familiar from the first game and others, like the rope launcher, are completely new to the series. In addition, players will also now collect cogs, which will allow you to upgrade and change your gear attributes, with the best news, you can swap them around at will. Need more armour in a fight, then respec your cog collection to cover that, want a little more power to your pickaxe, you can do that as well.

If you are at PAX West this weekend, the game will be playable there, so be sure to stop on by, until then, start counting down the days until September 21st.
