2014 Toyota TS040 Hybrid
Designed and built by a collaborative effort between Toyota Motorsport GmbH in Germany and Toyota Motor Company in Japan, the 2014 TS040 was Toyota’s weapon of choice for racing in the highly-competitive LMP1 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
The TS040 is powered by a conventional 3.7 liter V8 engine that is paired with a twin hybrid system on both axles, using supercapacitors for energy storage. All three systems combined not only give the TS040 temporary four-wheel drive but also provide drivers with an excess of 1000hp of power to challenge the competition with.
The 2014 TS040 proved to be tremendously successful in competition, leading large portions of the 2014 Le Mans 24 Hours and clinching the 2014 World Endurance Championship drivers & manufacturers title in the hands of Toyota Racing drivers Sebastien Buemi and Anthony Davidson.
