During the course of PAX Australia, I had the fortune to check out many titles that were made by many studios, some large and some small. One such studio is Dreamgate Studios, a small team based out of Canberra who were on hand to talk about their recently released title, Light in the Dark.

I had the chance to check out the game at the show and was so impressed with it, that I bought it on the iPad the moment I got home. But first you might be wondering what Light in the Dark is, well put simply it is a puzzle game that uses light, which eminates from baby totems. As you move the totems around the light moves with it, moving one into a corridor will result in light being shone through out it.

As you can see in the screen above, some of the puzzles can be quite tricky, but the game itself does a great job of ramping up the difficulty, each time a new element is introduced you are given a few stages to get used to it. One of the trickier elements is blending the light to make new colours, as it stands the game has three colours, blue, green and orange. If you make green and orange light cross paths it becomes yellow, so knowing how to mix the colours is just as important as knowing where to place the totems.

The team have only just come back from PAX Prime in Seattle where the game was well received and with good reason. The puzzles are clever and require a little more than a lucky flick, but don't fret sometimes luck is all you need as well.

If you are interested in checking the game out, you can get it now for iOS devices, Android and Windows Phone
