Nintendo Announces A Brand New Nintendo 3DS Model - Coming Next Year

Nintendo announced overnight that a brand new model of the popular Nintendo 3DS line is being released in October in Japan and other regions next year. Simply called New Nintendo 3DS & New Nintendo 3DS XL the machine comes with a host of new features and refinements.

First up, the machine has 3 new input options, two additional buttons on the top of the machine, ZR and ZL as well as the c-stick on the front. The new c-stick will act as a secondary analouge style movement device, which in Monster Hunter Ultimate 4G will control the camera, which in the other 3DS version of the Monster Hunter series, required the Circle Pad Pro to be used.

The new units now support Micro-SD and Nintendo have confirmed a few different models and sizes that will work with it. Along side that, other items have been moved around the device, the start and select are now located onto the side of the bottom screen but perhaps the biggest change is that the cartridge slot for games is on the bottom of the unit. The power button is also now on the front of the device, as you can see below.

But what will make me purchase one is that the all new machines have more power underneath, which Nintendo have confirmed will be used for a range of new titles including the 3DS port of Xenoblade Chronicles.  If you want to see all the new features that I have not mentioned here check out the video below.
