In Nero you are tasked with discovering what the world has to offer, but the question is are you willing to sacrifice something for someone you love?

Nero is a game of exploration, and while you can simply follow the path that is laid out before you and complete the game. Exploring off the path will let you uncover more to the story. The main path is easy to identify with as it is flanked with lanterns along the entire way, but these are not ordinary lanterns, for they contain jellyfish.

Behind you at all times is a black hooded figure and he will follow you around and listen to your commands, allowing you to place him on switches and alike to help solve various puzzles. Puzzles is the name of the game here for as you explore the world you will come across lots of them. Solving some will be a simple matter of hitting switches but some of them will have an order that needs to be followed. How are you meant to know the order, well by exploring.

As you explore the world you will see things that may not make any sense but when you find the puzzle that the clues were for it will fall into place. It is this reward for exploring that will convince you to get out there and find what you can find, but of course this world is not all rainbows and lollypops.

The game itself looks amazing, showcasing impressive visuals but also containing a very subdued art style. The few characters that we were shown in the demo all have an air of mystery around them, they almost move with a sense of loss. Of course we were not told anything of the story, which also has me intrigued.

Look for Nero on Xbox One soon thanks to the ID@Xbox program.
