Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition gets revealed and released for Switch and Switch 2

In a move that came out of nowhere, Aspyr have announced that Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is available now on Switch and Switch 2, bringing the first of the reboot series to Nintendo fans for the first time. Check out the release trailer below.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is the award-winning cinematic action-adventure that tells Lara Croft’s emotional journey from an inexperienced young woman into a hardened survivor – with a stunningly lifelike world to explore. Endure high-octane combat, customize weapons and gear, and overcome gruelling environments to survive Lara’s first adventure.

The Definitive Edition includes all of the game’s original downloadable content (including six Lara Croft outfits, eight multiplayer maps and four multiplayer characters), plus digital versions of the Dark Horse comic Tomb Raider: The Beginning, Brady Games’ mini-art book Tomb Raider: The Art of Survival, and the “Final Hours of Tomb Raider” developer video series. Much like the recent Tomb Raider games from Aspyr, they have worked with Crystal Dynamics, the original creator of this game, to ensure things are done right and early looks appear they were right.

There is a launch discount for the game, 10% off the price, making it just under $25 AUD and the developers have said if you own either of the Tomb Raider Remastered releases, you get another 10% for each one, and they stack. However, that discount does not appear to be live right now, so if you are wanting to buy this new release and you own the others, maybe wait a day. If it shows up for us, then we get a better deal, but the launch price is still great value.

If you can’t wait, you can get the game for Switch here and for Switch 2 here, just note that there is no upgrade from Switch to Switch 2, so buy the right version for your platform.
