The May update for Xbox consoles delivers new ways to see your friends

Xbox have announced that the May update for the Xbox series consoles is coming now to players all around the world and bringing with it two big updates, one is likely considered more important though.

The first is that there is now even more integration between Discord and Xbox, with you being able to see your friends Xbox Gamertags inside of Discord. Once you have them linked, alongside the voice channel support, starting today, you’ll be able to see the Xbox gamertags of your Discord friends while you’re connected to Discord Voice from your Xbox. This makes it easier to add each other as Xbox friends and send each other Xbox game invites.

The second update and one that might not impact some players, is that the Xbox Wireless Controllers are getting a firmware update. This release includes bug fixes for unexpected slow battery drain in controllers with internal batteries like Xbox Elite Series 2 and Xbox Adaptive controllers or the Xbox rechargeable battery. In addition there is also a bug fix for controllers that disconnect in games when using headphones with 4K, 120Hz, and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) enabled. You can update your controller wirelessly or with a USB connection.

The other major update that they are rolling out today, even though its not connected to the console at all, is that Xbox.com now has new sort and filter options. The updated store means it will now pull in price, subscriptions, supported languages, and accessibility features; which matches the console experience.
